Once upon a time, in the enchanting country of Liechtenstein, a remarkable event took place during the festive season. The small yet breathtakingly beautiful landlocked nation, nestled between Switzerland and Austria, has always been known for its rich history and captivating stories. However, the tale of the Fish Out of Water Children is one that transcends time and touches hearts even to this day.

The Legend Begins

It was a cold winter's night 300 years ago when a fisherman named Markus discovered a mysterious glowing object on the shores of the Rhine River. Intrigued by its radiant aura, he carefully picked it up and brought it back to his humble abode.

Little did Markus know that the glowing object was an ancient artifact of unimaginable power. As the hours passed, the artifact began to emit a warm and soothing light that captivated Markus. Suddenly, a blinding flash illuminated the room, and when the light faded, Markus found himself surrounded by four astonishingly beautiful children.

Alex the Reindeer was different than the other reindeer in his native country of Liechtenstein. He was a white and black blend, one side of him was white as snow, the other was as black as night. His fellow reindeer didn’t think a two-tone reindeer would be right, so they banished him. But, there were other things about Alex that made it hard for him to fit in. He had shiny gold antlers that were especially bright. They lit up the dark and gave off sparkling gold dust when he was enthusiastic.

On Christmas Eve, as Santa and his team are flying across Europe, they can’t find Liechtenstein. There aren’t any lights because soon fireworks will go off to celebrate the country’s 300-year anniversary. Santa’s reindeer want him to keep going. After all, even though it’s a beautiful alpine paradise, Liechtenstein is tiny, and they are afraid that Santa is going to miss his deadline to deliver to children on every continent.

But Santa has absolutely no intention of missing a country on the gift-giving night of Christmas Eve! He parachutes down and in the process he meets Alex. And, as you’ll discover when you read the story, that’s when things begin to change for the better and soon give happy results for everyone—Alex, Santa’s team, and children around the world. This delightful, rhyming, Christmas story presents children with a lifelong gift, a golden solution for what they should do when they feel they don’t fit in.

Interesting Fact: Liechtenstein is celebrating its 300 years of existence on Jan 23rd 2019!
