Situated along the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, Phoenicia was a maritime civilization known for its seafaring skills and expansive trade networks. The Phoenicians developed a phonetic alphabet, and their cities, such as Tyre and Sidon, became major trade hubs, exporting valuable goods like timber, purple dyes, and glass. Their influence extended beyond commerce, as they also played a significant role in transmitting cultural and artistic elements throughout the region.
Parthia: The Rival of Rome in the East
Parthia, located in modern-day Iran and Iraq, rose to prominence as a dominant power in the East during the Hellenistic period. Their rule brought stability and facilitated trade along the Silk Road, linking the Far East to the Mediterranean.
