A young man from the British Columbia coastal area, in Canada goes on a little tour in 1964 leaving the military base at Veddar Crossing, he has a car accident. When he gets his car repaired, he gets to know the Autobody repair man. This meeting leads to another career choice. Released from being posted in Germany ... George started his auto body career in 1966. George got involved with car painting early, which he won a prize in the custom car class, Sports Mild Custom. Being a perfectionist, this man became very good in every avenue of his job. Details, names of the paints he used and the procedure and effects as well as his mistakes, are given. One feels like they are in the shop with George! Read about his escapades with fast cars and motorbikes. Excerpt - "In January 1969. we had severe cold and lots of snow. I was driving the wrecker. It became pretty tough slugging, I was starting to get stuck myself, so I decided to go back to the shop. It was – 20 below, very cold. When I opened the shop door to put the truck inside … there was a lot of banging going-on water pipes had froze-up. The older buildings were not insulated, for this was a rare occurrence. I thought I would head home for the day. I had a load of sand in the box of the ’49 and chains on the tires. I safely got home. I must say my ’53 Chev didn’t survive too we that winter. The building where I had it stored, collapsed, crushing my car! I sold the motor, as that was all that was worth anything."
