Welcome to our story, I do hope you enjoy the journey. This is a memoir from our sailing adventure with friends and family. Many years in the planning, and far too short in the execution, it was life changing for us in many ways. I started writing this book as a blog a month before we set sail. Initially I had great plans to top and tail our adventures with the back story of our lives and include sections specifically dealing with victualling, repairs, customs formalities et al. After much thought I have decided to keep it as is. I think it stands alone rather well and reflects the day to day joys, frustrations, and challenges of an Atlantic circuit, written as it happened, warts and all. Perhaps at some point in the future I may well decide to make this into a mini pilot or passport to adventures for the armchair sailor, but for now I am happy to leave it as our story divided up into bite sized chunks so that you can dip in and out as suits your busy lives. My sincerest hope is that you enjoy the read and that it may give you the inspiration to go and have an adventure yourself. We will go again for sure, before we are too old to climb masts, stay awake half the night on watch, or we simply get too bogged down in the daily grind, but for now it’s back to the commute into London every day.
