Christine and her husband had a dream to retire in their fifties and live by Lake Michigan, in Leelanau county in northern Michigan.
She takes you through the process of creating their dream. However, they find out it’s too costly there, to have someone else build their house. They realize to be able to have their dream and live there, they will have to build it themselves. That meant physically cutting down 400 large pine trees, cleaning the building spot and building the house themselves. Neither the author nor her husband had ever done either before. Because of the love she held for their land, along with faith and trust, they accomplished it!
Christine shares her experiences of the wonderful times and the higher levels of spiritual awareness she obtained throughout her dog's life. She begins to acknowledge and appreciate that her dog came for a higher purpose, due of what she was learning from her. The author shares her years of creating and enlightenment. Eventually though, her dog begins the aging process which sends them all on a new venture, taking you along with them. She includes you in the heartwarming love story she has with her dog. Gradually after several adventures, the author is faced with an agonizing decision to say goodbye to their precious dog. Along with her devastating pain from the decision she had to make, she discovered her purpose as her dog completes hers.
